Smoothies are a delicious super easy breakfast or snack option and a great way to sneak more greens into your diet.
Smoothies, especially ones you make at home from whole vegetables and fruits, are a great way to increase your recommended daily vegetable and fruit intake. This nutritious smoothie is high in vitamins, minerals, fibre and many other beneficial nutrients. Start experimenting on your preferred super smoothie recipe.
Frozen/fresh fruit of choice: pick one
- ½ cup frozen berries of choice (such as raspberries or blueberries)
- ½ cup frozen banana chunks
- ½ cup frozen apple chunks
- ½ cup frozen mango chunks
- ½ cup frozen dragonfruit chunks
- ½ cup frozen pineapple chunks
Veggie of choice: pick one
- ½ large zucchini, chopped
- 1 handful spinach
- 1 handful kale
- 1/2 cucumber (this will give a more watery result)
Liquid of Choice: pick one
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of coconut water
- 1 cup non-dairy milk Protein of choice
The protein of choice: pick one
- 2 tbsp greek yoghurt
- 2 tbsp coconut yoghurt (if lactose intolerant)
- 1 scoop of clean protein powder (optional) “OR” add 1 tablespoon of a superfood below
Optional superfoods!
- Chia seeds, Flax seeds, Hemp seeds (naturally high in protein and healthy anti-inflammatory omega 3
Method
1. Place all ingredients into a blender and process until smooth. Drink immediately as a breakfast replacement or healthy snack.
